The Business Roundtable - Part III |

When the Business Roundtable started their education “reform” initiative in 1989, their membership consisted of the following companies. An asterisk following the name of the company indicates that that particular company is no longer a member of the Business Roundtable.
Since “education reform” was the primary function of this organization and since the rhetoric of their propaganda was so emphatic that there had to be total and uncompromising buy-in by the member companies in order for the reform to be accomplished, one has to wonder at the departure of so many of the initial participants.
I only know one of the CEO’s included in the original list, but when I asked him about this group and their purposes, he stopped talking to me!
That being the case, there is no way to know why so many dropped out, and that leaves only speculation! Could it be that so many decided that such reforms were NOT in the best interests of our country and our citizens? Could it be that having 85% of our citizens dumbed down proved to be distasteful to those CEOs? Could it be that some of those CEOs had family members who were being dumbed down and they didn’t like that? Could it be that the CEOs realized that just having a lot of money wasn’t going to buy “elite” status for their own family members--and that high IQ’s were also a necessary component? Could it be that the CEOs saw that their plan would bring the downfall of our country? Maybe they couldn’t sleep at night thinking about what they were doing to individual rights. Perhaps they were bought out or perhaps business wasn’t so great after all, and they simply vanished.
Who knows, but I believe it is significant that the ranks of the Business Roundtable have been decimated in the last ten years. It would be nice if some of them who departed would speak up.

I also wonder about the many prominent large corporations that never joined with this group: Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, Archer Daniels Midland, Continental Airlines, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and others too numerous to mention. Their absence from the list is significant, I think.
